Artist's Statement:
Kat Anderson turns conventional images of the quotidien on its head, taking fragmentary realism and mixing it with expressionism, while using humour to create a new take on surrealism, which is closer to absurdism.
She is highly fond of the ridiculous.
About the Artist:
Hi, I'm Kat Anderson. I'm the genius visionary culprit artist
behind kandeart.com.
I am not an MFA or anything like that, but I've been obsessed with drawing for my entire life. That boils down to about twenty years of experience.
Evidence:
I was born and raised in Fort
Collins, Colorado but currently reside in Madison, Wisconsin. I'm 25.
I cook a lot and read a lot and take a lot of walks. I like ellipses and
parentheses. I like stick shifts, good writing, espresso and peaches. I
enjoy more girly crap than can possibly be good for me.
I speak Spanish and I stay crunchy even in milk. I hate shoes and socks, soggy
cereal, frosted glass and lukewarm showers. I reserve the right to be
very very silly.
I'm married to Brian. he's a network administrator and programmer who used to be
a chef. He helped me put this site together. We have a kitty named Dingis and
a cat named Dopey. They enjoy cat activities such as yowling when they want
things, stealing my water at night, and posing for the cat calendar they
apparently think they'll be in someday.
